Re: Alli/Gallbladder

The recommendations on the alli label suggests that one who has had gallbladder or liver problem consult with their physician prior to starting any weight loss program and alli. While alli is not associated with causing any problems, the gall bladder and liver do participate in the digestion of fat. Sophia De Monte RPh

Re: IM in my 30's and this is my 1st day of counting my calories....

Alli works by inhibiting the fat digesting enzyme lipase. One 60mg dose of alli will block about 25% of the consumed fat. Fat equals calories, and by blocking the fat you are blocking calories. This in addition to caloric reduction and exercise will facilitate weight loss without feeling deprived or starved. The myalliplan is a weight loss program, like Weight Watchers you are reducing your caloric intake, but the focus here is on calories that come from fat. As long as you stay within the guidelines

Re: Alli and possible liver disease?

This is the updated information from FAQs. To date there has been no link to orlistat and increased liver adverse reactions. The following is an updated GlaxoSmithKline Consumer Healthcare statement in response to the FDA’s Early Communication about the safety review of Orlistat: On August 24th the FDA reported that it is continuing its safety review of orlistat and liver-related serious adverse events. It’s important consumers know that alli is safe and effective and there’s no

Re: can you double up on 60mg alli to equal 120 mg xenical?

Congratulations on the 30 pound weight loss. Your time and commitment has been paying off. The most rapid weight loss does occur the first six months of any program, as you body does struggle to hold onto weight. Nonetheless even though you are seeing less effects fro alli, each 60mg dose is blocking about 25% of the fat. Doubling the dose to the prescription strength does require a dialogue with your physician. Sophia De Monte RPh

Re: Read Only

Have you registered yourself on the myalliplan? If so, it may be just be a technical cliche and would best be addressed by technical support. Sophia De Monte RPh

Re: Frusterated Already. Help!

Your weight does fluctuate, mainly from water retention and hormonal shifts. While you are dieting is is suggested to weight yourself once a week, not daily. We all tend to get stuck on the numbers on the scale and can become frustrated if they don't move in anticipation to all the work we have done. True weight loss is more than the numbers, you would first notice a change in how your clothes fit. You are doing nothing wrong, this takes time. Sophia De Monte RPh

Re: Nausea

While alli is not associated with causing nausea, it does change the way you are digesting food (especially fats) and there can be an increase in gas. Trapped gas in the upper GI tract can leave one feeling nauseous. You should not be at the point where it interferes with your daily activities. Does the nausea occur with each meal? Re: Help

There are no known interactions between alli and acai. Acai Berry is a natural health food supplement which primarily has antioxidant properties. There are many claims about its benefits, but they have not all been verified. For efficacy, safey and quality it is best to buy this product from a reliable source and company. Sophia De Monte RPh

Re: Hair Loss

Alli is not associated with causing hair loss, but that being said, rapid weight loss and diet can trigger hair loss. Hair processing is a factor in itself. There are so many factors that can cause hair loss, it would be difficult to pinpoint it to just one. More important is its onset and pattern, patchy spots or gradual as well as a family history. If this still continues you should check it out with a physician. There is no problem with increased "hair" vitamin supplementation as they

Re: Will Levo-thyroxine interact with the Alli?

As the Alli literature states, you need to consult with your physician prior to taking Alli if you have a history of thyroid disease. Weight loss may facilitate the need to change thyroid medication dosage and more frequent monitoring may be necessary. As with all other medications, Alli needs to be spaced apart at least 1-2 hours after a levothyroxine dose. Sophia De Monte RPh
